Haxial DiskCatalog Version History
Version 1.300
- Updated to use new Haxial Appearance Engine.
- Added the ability to search by Type. For example, to find JPEG files, enter "image/jpeg" into the "Type Contains" text box in the Find window, or just simply "jpeg". Or to find images, enter "image".
- MS Windows: The "Batch Add" feature has been improved, now it detects CDs automatically when they are inserted, without you having to click a button.
- Minor bug fixes.
Version 1.200
- Hierarchical browsing of files. When you click on a cataloged disk, there is now an extra pane on the left that displays the folder hierarchy. Note you can click and drag the bar between the panes to resize them.
- Ability to rename catalogs (use the context menu on an item).
- After adding a catalog, if it doesn't have a proper name (such as only a drive letter or "untitled"), auto-prompt the user to enter a new name.
- Search Results can be exported to a tab-delimited text file. Click the "Export To Text File" command in the Window Menu on the Search Results window.
- An entire catalog can be exported to a tab-delimited text file. Use the Context Menu on a catalog in the list, then click the "Export To Text File" command.
- Increased maximum search results from 5,000 to 500,000. 100,000 items now takes only a couple of seconds to display on a mid-range G4 computer (thanks to new No Fat WonderSearch™).
- Previously it was possible to do a search before all the catalogs had finished loading, resulting in a partial search of the catalogs (and thus possible missed search results). Now it waits until all the catalogs have loaded before doing the search, so you can safely type and hit return as soon as you see the Find window when opening the program.
- The Find window now contains options to search by file size and date (frex find files of size 5 to 100 kilobytes, or find files modified between 1 January and 10 February, or a combination).
- More intelligent matching of file names when searching. For example, a search for "good dog" will now find "GoodDog", "good-dog.jpg", and "dog good", unless you turn on "Must Contain Exact Phrase", in which case a search for "good dog" will find only names containing exactly "good dog" including the space (this was the previous behavior).
- Option to change the font used in file lists, frex to a smaller font.
- Option to use small icons in file lists.
- "Show Real File" and "Open Real File" commands in the context menu. This attempts to find the real file corresponding to the item in the catalog, and then shows/opens it using Windows Explorer or the Finder on Mac. The CD must be in the drive and ready for this to work.
- Drag & drop a disk or folder into the main window to catalog it.
- When cataloging a disk, if there is already a catalog with the same name, ask if you want to replace it (useful when updating a catalog).
- The widths of the columns in the main window are now remembered when you next open the program (if you resized them).
- "Save Window Location/Size" command in the Window Menu on file browser windows saves the location and size of the window, the sizes of the columns, and the sizes of the panels for use when the next file browser window is shown.
- Ability to select different Icon Lists, like KDX. These change the icons to different themes. You can download some from the website, put them in a folder named "Icon Lists" in the same folder as DiskCatalog, then you can select it in Settings.
- Color Schemes can now be selected in the Settings window using a popup menu or by clicking a button to load from a file.
- Added a number of built-in Color Schemes.
- Updated to use new Color Scheme format.
- Some misc bug fixes.
Version 1.000
- "Batch Add" feature makes it easier to catalog a bunch of removable disks (thanks sfish for the suggestion). MacOS: While Batch Add is activated, any disk inserted into the computer will be automatically cataloged and then ejected if possible. Windows: Automatic detection of disks inserted into the computer is not supported, instead you click a button to check for new volumes.
- Can now use color schemes. Copy a Color Scheme file into the same folder as DiskCatalog, and rename it to exactly "ColorScheme.dat". Then open DiskCatalog, and it should be using the new color scheme.
- Windows: Second-click any minimize button to minimize the program to the system tray. The item in the taskbar also has a proper icon now.
- Remember window locations/size when reopening program.
- Added Zoom ('+') buttons to various windows.
- A Documentation PDF is now included.
- Some minor bug fixes.
Version 0.903
- Faster cataloging.
- While cataloging, instead of displaying all folder names so fast that you can't read them, when it displays a name it leaves it on the screen for longer (total cataloging time is still less).
