Configuring Apple AirPort Router

1. Look for the folder "Applications" on your hard disk.

2. Inside "Applications" look for the folder "Utilities".

3. Inside "Utilities" there should be "Airport Admin Utility". Open it.

4. Select your base station and click "Configure".

5. When you click "Configure", you will have to enter the admin password for the base station (NOT the computer).

6. Click the "Port Mapping" tab. It looks like this:

port mapping tab

7. Click the "Add" button. This window appears:

port mapping add

8. For "Public Port" and "Private Port", type the port number of the program you want to use. For KDX Server, you would put 10700 (unless you changed it).

8. For "Private Address", type the LAN address of the computer that is running the program you want to use (KDX Server, etc). This is 10.0.1.x address, and KDX Server will display it in its journal/log window when it starts up. Or you can find the address in the MacOS network settings of that computer.

9. Click the "OK" button.

10. Click the "Update" button.

Finding Your Public Internet Address

You cannot tell someone on the internet to connect to you using an address that begins with 10.0.1.x because this is the private LAN address of your computer. You need to tell them your public/real IP address instead. Try looking in one of the other tabs in the Airport Admin Utility to find your public address. Or use Haxial's What Is My IP Address? page.
