About the Company
- Mission -

Haxial Software Pty Ltd is a company founded in 2001 with the mission of creating efficient and easy-to-use software that runs on multiple operating systems, and avoids unnecessary complexity where possible. The company has survived the start-up phase and is now a successful self-sustaining company with a bright future. Simply stated, the company's mission is to create great software.

- Shareware -

Haxial develops a number of programs that are distributed using the well-respected and popular "Shareware" system. Unlike other commercial software, the Shareware system permits you to download and try the software BEFORE you purchase it. If you continue to use the software, you are then required to pay for it, and this funds the development of that program and others.

Shareware is a generous system because it allows you to try the product (free of charge) for a substantial period of time before you buy it, or if you are not satisfied with it, you can simply stop using it, and then there is no obligation to purchase. How many shops would let you do that? Also, Shareware products are usually very reasonably priced.

Shareware is not the same as a Demonstration Version. In a Demo, the program is crippled such that it is not really useful for doing real work -- it is only useful for demonstrating the program, hence the name. Whereas with Shareware, the program is useful for doing real work even before you purchase it, although it may display payment reminders, and purchasing it might unlock additional non-essential features. If a program has crippled ability to save documents, then it is most likely a Demo not Shareware. For example, if it produces audio or video files that are limited to a minute in duration, or it produces graphics files with a conspicuous watermark that is only removed by purchasing, then it is a Demo.

- Priorities -

Many companies have maximizing profits as their top priority. At Haxial, the top priority is striving to make great products. Getting money is secondary. Obviously getting money is essential to the survival of any company, but the Haxial philosophy is that if Haxial has great products that make many customers happy, then earning money will not be a problem.

Some companies spend most or much of their money on fancy advertising/marketing schemes and pushy sales people. Haxial spends most of its money on paying software engineers -- again the focus is making great products. We want you to be impressed by the actual product, not by exaggerated hype or sales talk promoting the product, and Haxial's "try before you buy" (shareware) arrangement is consistent with this.

- Honesty and Respect -

Many companies, including multi-national companies, use misleading or dishonest advertising or claims to promote their products and they break or push the boundaries of the laws regarding advertising and misrepresentations. That these companies are willing to deliberately mislead their customers demonstrates how little respect they have for them. A lie is any communication with intent to deceive.

Companies also use vague hype and buzzwords that are intended to impress customers but actually have little or no real meaning. At Haxial, we believe that such behavior is childish and disreputable, and we pride ourselves on having a more mature, honest, and professional approach to business. We do not view our customers as gullible fools that can be tricked into handing their money over. Obviously we need and want money, but we want to be paid because we deserve it, not because we tricked people into paying us.

Thus you will find no misleading claims or vague hype or buzzwords on the Haxial website (or if you do find any, please inform us and we will correct it). Admittedly the website occasionally has some jokes or sarcasm or parody that is not true, but it should be reasonably obvious that these are harmless jokes (if you disagree, let us know). Certainly there should be nothing intended to trick you into thinking that the product is better than it really is.

Haxial does not use "99" prices for its products, for example $49.99 or $29.95 or $399, because they are unprofessional and insulting to the customer. Companies use "99" prices when they have no respect for their customers. The sales people in these companies think that their customers are so stupid that they will think that $49.99 is significantly cheaper than $50 just because the first digit is 1 less. It is a trick to mislead the customer and it does not even work, and is thus an insult to the customers intelligence.

- Fanatics -

Other companies have customers who become emotionally attached to their products and the company. Haxial discourages such fanaticism. It is great if you are an admirer of Haxial products, but please do not be a fanatic. The difference is that an admirer is rationally enthusiastic about Haxial, whereas a fanatic is irrationally enthusiastic and emotionally attached. Overall, having fanatics for customers does more harm than good. If you become a Haxial fanatic, we will kick you in the groin until you hate us.

We aim to gain customers that are mature and rational and like our products because the products really are good, not just because they have made an emotional investment in them. Being emotionally involved with a piece of software that some company produced is somewhat pathetic.
